It’s time to start pumpin’ up the party now because on this day, 15 years ago, Hannah Montana premiered. It would go on to become an integral part of so many childhoods and iconic. The way this show was intertwined in our lives was unlike any other show at the time, at least from what I observed as a nine-year-old. Hannah Montana was the subject of cafeteria conversation and recess reenactment of scenes. It’s what made us put on our own sleepover living room concerts on Saturday nights and was every girl’s birthday party theme for the latter half of the 2000s. What could be seemingly small to most, this show forever takes up a large part of my heart.
It’s weird to think that it’s already been 15 years since the show aired for the first time. Honestly, it has me a little emotional. And Miley’s open letting to Hannah certainly didn’t help with the emotions because the woman had me sobbing earlier. While I’m marathoning some episodes today, I figured I would share 15 of my favorite moments and songs from Hannah Montana. Heartwarming lessons were learned, laughs were had, some tears shed, and sweet niblets were exclaimed.

Make sure to get your long-sleeve tee on and layer a spaghetti strap tank on top of it and allow yourself to travel back in time to 2006 through 2011…
15 of my Favorite Hannah Montana Moments (not in order)
- Get Down Study-udy-udy: The Bone Dance
This has always been one of my favorite episodes. You could catch me trying to learn the dance as a kid. Although I didn’t master the dance, I still have the song memorized. It’s such a bop.
- She’s a Super Sneak: “I Miss You”
In the show, she wrote the song for her late mother, but in real life, it’s a tribute to Miley’s late grandfather. I cried when I heard it the first time and honestly, couldn’t listen to it when I was younger because I would always cry. Truthfully, it still makes me cry.
- Achy Jakey Heart: Cheese Jerky
Arguably one of the most iconic moments from the show ever. It’s another bop because dude it really work-y.
- The entire Jesse/Jake Fiasco
I was always torn on how I felt about Jake the entire series. But I’ll tell you I never waivered on how I felt about Jesse. I loved that man so much. Still do and I have no shame about it. This scene in particular always did it for me. It’s just a fact that Miley and Jake didn’t have the same chemistry that she and Jesse did.
- The ending of the show when she ends up going to college with Lilly
Look me dead in the eyes and tell me you didn’t sob your heart out during the final episode of the show? The pulling of the heartstrings of it looking like Miley was going to begin her career and leave Lilly to go to college on her own to the final moment of her coming back at the last moment to go to school with her best friend. So. Many. Tears.
- The “Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr Jonas and Mr. Jonas” Episode
There truly wasn’t anything as 2007 as the Jonas Brothers guest-starring on Hannah Montana. This fueled all of our Niley hearts. It was everything a 10-year-old could dream about…at the time.
- Lilly, Do You Want to Know a Secret?: Telling Lilly she’s Hannah
The iconic episode that started it all. Imagine your favorite superstar is actually your best friend? That would be insane. Just the moment she tells Lilly her fears that she thinks she’ll like Hannah more than her and Lilly reassuring her is the ultimate bestie goal. Not to mention, we see THE closet of all of our young dreams. Also, can you believe that Miley was only 12-years-old when she started the show? Emily Osment was 13 and Mitchel Musso was 14. Also, don’t forget to moisturize your hands with ketchup.
- The Selena Gomez Appearances
Selena’s reoccurring role as Mikayla was short-lived but always remembered. The rivalry between Mikayla and Hannah was so tense and for what? Can we also talk about why they had Selena lip-sync to a voice that definitely did not look like it came from her? Absolutely wild. But always remember that *this* is how you do the head thing.
- That’s So Suite Life of Hannah Montana
Do I need to say more? That’s So Raven mixed with The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, AND Hannah Montana? A star-studded event. The most iconic crossover to ever happen in the history of crossovers. I said what I said.
- I Am Hannah, Hear Me Croak: The dream with her mom
Any episodes that involve dreams or flashbacks with her mom always make me emotional. But this particular episode really hits something in me. It’s cushioned with jokes, of course, but the heartwarming moment of her late mother reassuring her that everything will be okay with the surgery and it would be okay even if it went wrong. Tearjerker.
- When You Wish You Were the Star: the Jesse McCartney Episode
Anything that involved Jesse McCartney in the 2000s? Sign me right up. I was in love with this man so, of course, all his Disney guest star episodes remain some of my favorites.
- I Will Always Loathe You: the Dolly Parton Episodes
Any episode with Dolly Parton was never one to disappoint. Between the laughs and the heartwarming speeches she gave, we were not worthy. My most favorite Dolly episode is the one where she rivals Meemaw. (While I have you here, don’t forget to get the Dolly vaccine when/if you can!)
- Miley Says Goodbye? (Part 2): Leaving the Malibu home
There’s just something about moving episodes that tear me up inside. It’s probably because I don’t like change and leaving my childhood home broke my heart. At this point, we most likely knew that the series was coming to an end in the upcoming season. It felt symbolic like us starting to have to say goodbye to our childhood, too. Or I just might be looking too deeply into it. But either way, this episode breaks my heart but I love it.
- I´ll Always Remember You: Revealing the Hannah Secret
Yes, she tells Crowley Corners her secret in the movie before the season but she tells the literal world during the final season. But this feels 10x more emotional because…well, see my above rambles. It’s a closing of a chapter. Not only for the show and Miley but also for all of us.
- Love That Lets Go: the Blue Jeans episode
I think it’s clear I like the episodes that got me a little misty-eyed. Did anyone else think that Blue Jeans wasn’t going to make it during this episode? Because I really thought that’s where it was headed and I wasn’t prepared. Luckily, Blue Jeans pulled through. In real life, the horse doesn’t make it. The episode was dedicated to Miley’s real horse, Roam-Man.
15 of my Favorite Hannah Songs (not in order)

- “Old Blue Jeans”
- “Rock Star”
- “One In a Million”
- “The Best of Both Worlds”
- “I Got Nerve”

From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Hannah Montana. And thank you, Miley. My childhood was truly enhanced by you and serves as a comfort show now. I’ll always remember you.
