The Bachelorette Week 1 Recap

The Bachelorette Week 1 Recap
ABC/Craig Sjodin

After what seems like centuries since Clare was announced at our season 16 Bachelorette, the much-anticipated season aired last night. And man did it feel good to have new Bachelor content and live-tweeting the show with my favorite Twitter friends. Colton and Peter’s seasons have been nothing short of a disappointment. But Clare’s season is one that I’m genuinely excited about and looking forward to. When I tell you I felt giddy during the first few minutes of the episode last night, believe me I know it’s embarrassing. It’s now time to get into the Bachelorette week 1 recap!

Most of us know what happens with Clare and that at some point during the season – I’m guessing around episode two or three – the queen Tayshia Adams comes in as to take her spot at the Bachelorette. But how that unfolds, we shall wait and see. It took about 30 minutes until they finally aired the men coming out of the limo. The first half-hour was filled with early quarantine days (we were so young and hopeful then…), Clare quarantining dramatically, the men getting tested for COVID-19 and quarantining in their own rooms at the resort, and then finally once everyone was cleared, it was go-time. Clare looks absolutely beautiful and I really did think her dress was cute.

Meet the Men of The Bachelorette Season 16

Notable Stats of the Night

First Limo Exit: Ben

Best Arrivals:

  • Tyler C. (rolled up in a station wagon with a southern accent)
  • Eazy (jumped out of a sign that said “your future husband”)
  • Dale (his presence was immaculate)
  • Ed (came in a bubble. Honestly, he’s on to something with that idea)
  • Demar (came with a parachute to say he fell for Clare already)
  • Joe (had a stethoscope to heal her love life. He also made her a cute origami animal tray – very fun and thoughtful!)

Worst Arrivals:

  • Bennett (rolled up in a Rolls-Royce with a scarf, and drops H-bombs)
  • Zach J. (the guy who pulls out a ring box with the farting noise)
  • Jason (the pretend pregnant guy – tried to be witty be recalling her entrance to Juan Pablo’s season but just…no)
  • Jay (straight jacket guy – tasteless and not funny)
  • Chasen (came in a suit of armor but no pun to explain why)

Stole Clare First: Fart Box Guy

Clare the Way for Dale…

The Bachelorette Week 1 Recap
ABC/Craig Sjodin – The Bachelorette Week 1 Recap

The man. The myth. And the legend that is Dale Moss arrived at last. Notice the music change and how his intro was longer than everyone else’s Immediately Clare was weak in the knees. An absolute smitten kitten. As soon as she hugged him and he walked away she was saying things like, “I knew it. I definitely feel like I just met my husband, I’m shaking,” and, “every other guy I felt confident with, but with Dale… I felt everything that I haven’t felt ever.”

I’m an absolute sucker for romance even if it’s cheesy and most likely staged – it’s cute. If Dale is truly her man then I am over the moon for her because she deserves it. I mean, I can’t blame the woman for wanting to wrap it up now and just leave with Dale. Have you seen him? HANDSOME!

The Bachelorette Week 1 Recap

They talk during the cocktail party and it’s magical. The two bond over how difficult it is to not be able to see loved ones during quarantine because of health conditions. Dale talks about how he watched Clare’s GMA interview when she was announced as the Bachelorette and he loved her confidence. And they’re both empaths. Too good to be true? Or true love?

Honestly, I’m not mad about Clare falling for Dale so early and so fast. Did they talk prior to filming? It’s very likely. However, that’s the point of this show. And if Clare found her man, she found her man. I think most rules of this show are dumb so it would be hypocritical for me to be like, “bUt ClArE tHe RuLeS!1!”. I can’t wait to see how Clare and Dale play out. On the other hand, we know how this show works. The producers are being oddly outright with Clare and Dale being “it”. It could be possible this won’t go the way we’re all thinking. Who know!

Tyler C. vs. Yosef

The Bachelorette Week 1 Recap
ABC/Craig Sjodin

It truly wouldn’t be a season if I didn’t swoon over someone just for them to turn out to be not great. That usually doesn’t happen right away so congratulations to Tyler C. #2 on starting drama so early. Tyler C. claims that Yosef isn’t here for the right reasons. All the tea Tyler C. has is that Yosef is “reckless” on Instagram and flirted in DMs with women that know Tyler C. Yosef calls Tyler C. “mini-McConaughey” and it absolutely sent me. Childish but funny. I’ll allow it.

Of course, Tyler C. thinks to be the knight in shining armor (a missed opportunity that he wasn’t the guy that showed up in the suit) and tell Clare. How Clare decided to handle things is why I was excited to have her as the Bachelorette in the first place. She wasted no time in getting Yosef and Tyler C. together to get the story straight. There was some scolding and then she left them to go talk to others. And again, I don’t blame her. Why waste time on drama especially when you probably won’t end up with either of these men. In the end, Tyler C. gets the boot because there can only be one true Tyler C. (aka our sweetie Tyler Cameron). Yosef gets to stay but it does look like he might stir up drama in the next episode.

The Bachelorette Week 1 Conclusion

Okay, we get it. Blake Moynes stole my heart last night. What can I say? Hopefully, he ends up being a good guy and I don’t regret my stanning of him so early. I mean by the end of the episode, I already regretted liking the new Tyler C. and Eazy (I’m not saying there’s shady information on this man, but I’m also not not saying it…) Red flags seem to be my favorite color.

Here’s the sneak peek at the upcoming season. I can’t get over how insane this season is about to be. Oh, and we can’t forget about Clare’s dog running into the cocktail party and stealing the show!

Who are your top 3 so far? What are your first impressions of the season? Overall, I think we’re in for one heck of a season, and the guys seem pretty decent (this will come back to haunt me, I’m sure of it).

Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter because I live-tweet the show every Tuesday and I think I’m hilarious. And in other breaking Bachelor Nation news, JP and Ashley announce they’re divorcing which is really sad.
