Spend the Day with Me: Christmas Adventure | 12 Days of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas is back again this year and I’m excited to kick it off with another spend-the-day-with-me post! A few weeks ago, Max and I spent the whole day in the city to see the Lights Festival on the Magnificent Mile. I attempted to see it a couple of years ago, but it didn’t work out so I was very adamant about seeing it this year.

I watched the Lights Festival on tv every year when I was growing up. It always looked so magical because Mickey and Minnie Mouse began the show, so how could it not be magical!? Well, it was actually the magic of television. Being there in person isn’t as great because there obviously isn’t all the fun music and the floats and balloons are awkwardly spaced apart. So, there were either 3 things coming at you at once or nothing for several minutes. It was nice to experience it once, but it wouldn’t be something I would want to make sure I do every year.

We did some fun things before and after the parade which included a mini Buddy the Elf moment when we went to warm up in Macy’s afterward. Max was chilly. Someone’s socks were wet (it was me, oops) from a poor choice of footwear. But by the end of the night, we had seen Mickey and Minnie, a few big and beautiful Christmas trees, and a lot of laughs.

Let’s go on an adventure…

What’s a trip to Chicago without at least passing by the Bean?
I’ve lived in Illinois my whole life and have been to Chicago many times. But I’m pretty sure this is my first “official” Bean photo.

I saw a bride taking her picture by one of these so naturally, I needed a picture here, too.
We had a great spot for the parade, surprisingly!
Mickey & Minnie – the best part, no doubt.

Woody & Jessie rode on in, too!
The nutcracker…well…he wasn’t doing very hot. He was laying down like this when he got to us.
Chicago sports mascots!

Timon and Rafiki came a long way to be in Chicago!

Santa Clause came to town!
Fireworks to end the night.

Then it was time for our Macy’s adventure to warm up our toes and souls – slightly inspired by Buddy the Elf

I’m on the…
…nice list!
He waits around in the cold with me just to get a glimpse of Mickey and Minnie. I love him so much.

I hope you enjoyed another virtual scrapbook page of me and Max on our Christmas adventure. You can also follow Max and me on Instagram to see other adventures we go that I might not post on my blog.

Make sure to come back tomorrow for the second day of Christmas!

I know you said a lot of the magic was in the television but you got some gorgeous photos and I’m glad you got to see Mickey and Minnie! They would be worth the day out, alone ☺️
