If I could have a slow morning every morning, I would be more of a morning person. Due to my school schedule this year, I’m on campus at 8 am five days a week so I don’t have that luxury like I had last semester with having more time in the morning. So, for day 6 of 7 Days of Halloween, I’m going to share my ideal Fall morning routine!
There’s always the constant struggle of wanting to have a stress-free morning and getting more sleep. While getting more sleep is what usually wins for me in the morning, it never really seems worth it when I realize I have only a few minutes to get ready and out the door. Yet I never change my ways, and if I do it usually lasts only about a week until I’m back to running out the door at the last second – in my defense, it runs in my family.
So, here’s my ideal Fall morning routine!
Wake Up Naturally
Mornings are better when your body wakes you up rather than an obnoxious alarm.
Coffee + F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
What’s better than something warm that tastes like chocolate and makes you go fast while watching your favorite TV show?
I never eat breakfast. Like ever. Then I get that weird nauseous feeling in the later morning from only having coffee in my stomach and it’s not a good time but I never learn. If I could just have enough time to enjoy a little bit of something that would so much better.
I’m currently reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and since my days are filled with class, work, homework, and blogging, I’m lucky if I can read a couple pages a week In my ideal world, I’d spend a half hour to an hour every morning reading. I haven’t read even 100 pages of this book yet but I love it a lot already and I can tell it’s going to be one of my favorites. It’s inspiring and it has you reflect on your life but not as condescendingly or making it seem like mental health is an obstacle you choose to have like some other “self-help” books that I’ve read.
Two of my favorite YouTubers to watch in the morning and at night are BritneyandBaby and Kalyn Nicholson – they just emulate relaxing to me and if I had the time to incorporate this into my mornings, it would put me in a calmer mood for the day.
Finally, in my perfect world, I’d be able to get some blogging work done in the morning rather than the day I’m supposed to post or later at night. But I do love it a lot and will do it when I can – except when I’m at school because their system blocked WordPress blog which is very inconvenient when I am at school for roughly 12 hours and I can’t access my blog during downtime.
My actual morning routine is my alarm going off at 5:30 am. I either hit snooze a million times until I have about 15 minutes to leave my house or I actually get up on time – most of the time it’s the snooze button. I’m then off to class at 8 am and then I work for the rest of the morning. It’s a busy and never really relaxing morning time, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes.
What’s your ideal morning like?
Tomorrow is officially the last day of 7 Days of Halloween so be sure to come back – it went by so fast this year!
